Politics and English language by George Orwell
Well funny enough George Orwell criticises the
‘inaccurate’ written English of his time and from what I understood Mr.Orwell
believes English was simply ugly during his time, He also claims political
prose was constructed: “To make lies sound truthful and murder respectable”
Throughout the essay Orwell encourages clarity instead
of vagueness over political conformity which is matching attitudes and beliefs.
Another case is that Orwell in terms of political
writing notes that "orthodoxy seems to Demand lifeless”Political speech
and writing are generally in defence of the indefensible
and so lead to a euphemistic inflated style.
